Who Me?

I’ll begin by saying that I was born with a very, rare, metabolic disorder titled, Propionic Acidemia.  Very few children survive this disease and I am the 2nd eldest in the U.S. that we know of.  We are finding that this disease can lead to other health problems as well such as Kidney Disease which I had (have?) and I had a kidney transplant in 2007…donated to me by my husband.

I have also been diagnosed with ADD (it was termed ADHD but I was told without the Hyperactivity), Depression, Reynaud’s, IBS, Early-Menopause-Now Menopause (never could have children but was not told until later in life which totally annoyed me), had an Appendectomy, have suffered severe stomach issues of which the doctors could not figure out the cause but by my own process of elimination discovered I am Gluten-Intolerant, and just had a partial, Anal Sphincterotomy. (they opened an Anal fissure.), and now Hypogammagobulynemia (weak immune system) and am starting Botox for my Migraines.

When I was in school, I had a group of friends and we termed ourselves; ‘Weird’, ‘Unique’, ‘Strange’, etc.  I became the Strange one and the term stuck.  Hence, the title, Strange and Unhealthy Life.

I am a Christian.  When I do state my opinions on whatever, I usually preface that by telling you it is my opinion and not a debate.  I do not wish to debate with you or get in arguments with you.  I do have strong opinions and you have a right to your own.  You also have the right to disagree with me but if you start attacking me; your comment will not be posted.

When not about my health issues, I do post about my family and friends.   All names are changed or generalized.  A true name may slip out from time-to-time, but I don’t like confirming that.  I have my own reasons.  If you want to address me by name in your comments, please use the name, “Bunny.”  It was a nick-name given to me by a favorite teacher in school.  I still use it  if there are to many people with my real name in the present vicinity.   If you know me, please understand this and if you want confirmation on someone; ask via e-mail or phone.

Yes, there is someone in this world that really does live this type of life..

So that’s me and welcome to my Blog and World!

  1. From one animal lover to another 🙂

Sorry about your metabolic condition.. It must be really difficult to live with 😦

I lost my father in October 2010, to cancer. It was a horrible experience that I am still getting over…

    Take care..

  2. Thank you for sharing your story! I have enjoyed reading your posts and will continue to follow. I can not even imagine the frustrations of having undiagnosed bowel issues.

    Take care!

  3. Love your honestly and what the f…. attitude ! U go! Love people with adversite and pull themselves up from boot straps.

  4. Bravo on your out spoken life. Those who have health issues should be loud and bold! Love you spirit. Been there done that. In process of gettback into work force. Ugh intimated.

  5. Aaah, “pulling yourself up from boot straps”‘. That’s only done with God’s help, I assure you

  6. I’m grateful for people like you that are so open and honest. I can relate to some of the things you mentioned struggling with here, and am glad I found your blog!

    • I’m terrible for not responding until now. I don’t usually read my ‘about page” since I obviously know about myself. Sometimes you can get yourself in trouble by being to honest..I try to tame that and I’ve learned some tact over the years. I’m so glad you like my blog. I like yours too.

  7. It sounds like you have gone through a lot. I’m sure sharing it with others is a huge help and comfort to them. I look forward to reading more of your posts. – Amy
