Post On Spam

Today I want to talk about Spam.  Spam is a lunch meat.  I used to like it before I became Vegetarian/Flexitarain and gave in to my love of animals.  Plus, I need to be on a low-protein diet anyway due to my disease..but I digress.. I used to take Spam Sandwiches for lunch which was basically canned Spam mixed with mayo in a sandwich.    My father was a retired Marine having served a long time in the Marine Corps. (being on the USS Tennessee which was attached to the USS Arizona during Pearl Harbor and losing half his men as well)…  Yeah.. Yeah.  I know… once again I digress.   Anyway, dad used to call Spam “Shit On A Shingle” because he said that is pretty much all they ate and it tasted terrible. but when I was in school, I liked the taste.

Nnow we call the weird messages we get from weird people who have nothing to do with the topics we write about, “Spam.”  Does anyone know how that came about?  Could there not have been another word for it?  Let’s see..we could see it as a possible threat.  We could have just said P.T. or it could cause possible computer harm so there’s always the term, “Warning Llight.”  Hey, I like that.  We already have a trash folder here but Spam?  Is that really insulting enough for all these weird messages we really don’t want, can’t use, and/or are possibly harmful to our computers?

Do you ever wonder just what the production company of Spam thinks of this?

Also, speaking of Spam… I have been.  What types of Spam do you receive on your blog site?  Isn’t it weird to get Spam leading yu to other sites that have absolutely nothing to do with yours?  and why do I get comments starting “Dear Webmaster..”  Now, that is weird.  I guess sex type spam will show up everywhere so that is not to much of a surprise nor are the ones of how to get more followers.  Like I would follow a Spam suggestion.  I think not.

Computer Is Controlling Me

I could read Blogs all day which means I also add people to follow.  If I continue with this trend I don’t know how I will catch/keep up with all the Blogs I find so interesting and still be able to post on mine so.. I’ve decided I will take one day and read an entire or at least this years entries of one new Blog I’ve started following (or at least try to do so in a day) as well as check the ones I have on my Blogroll, so I can get to know them better.  Then, I may start alternating a few Blogroll people.  I haven’t really decided on the 2nd part yet.

I love WordPress but I can see how it can become so addicting.

Plus, between Facebook, WordPress, E-mails, an interesting virtual life thing I’ve joined, etc… I need to make time for house-work.  Yesterday, I actually turned the computer off and got some things done.

Unfortunately, that may be how I will need to monitor myself for a bit.

In my opinion, this is when technology is starting to control us which could be a very bad thing.

Computer Addiction

What was life like before the computer?  Do you remember?  Did things get done around the house that I needed and wanted to get done?  Did I read more?  Did I want to go out and do things?  I remember actually taking myself to the Mall or a movie because I was bored or going for a walk with my Walkman.

I need to slow down this addiction.  My ADD does not help..neither does the fact that everyone in the world has computers and cell phones with all the bells and whistles and now my phone has it all too.  My phone also has most everything the computer does.  But, I digress in a way.  How many times can I check the stats here in hopes they’ll change?  That’s ridiculous.

I need to clean and work on my house.  I need to start exercising more. My husband says I need to get outside and get some Sun.  Yes, I still need to buy some things via computer but I should probably allot a time for that like between the things I need/want to get done..just like I should do the same with my favorite FB game.

So, that’s my hope and goal..but how things pan out may turn into something else.  I have a lot of ambition lately but the follow-thru is yet to be seen.
